The Fest also features a
beverage garden with imported and domestic beers, international
wines, mixed drinks, Caribbean Rum Punch, New Orleans Hurricanes
and beads, beads, and more beads!
Everyone is invited to 5 hours of All You Can Taste sampling
from the more than 20 Gumbos in the competition for both the
People’s Choice and the Critics Choice Awards decided by our
panel of Celebrity Judges. The world class music festival,
party and dancing begins at 1pm with the beverage garden and
General Admission beginning 12 noon.
In addition to enjoying all the Gumbo you can taste, guests will
be allowed to vote for their “People’s Choice” for best Gumbo.
Winner of the $1,000 First Prize will be announced at 6PM.
The world class music festival begins at 1pm with live music,
dancing and partying until 10pm.
Tickets priced at only $22 in advance, $25 at the door.
A portion of the proceeds from “Jersey Gumbo” will benefit three
Community service organizations, Seashore Gardens, Access One
and the Shirley Mae Breast Cancer Organization. The host
sponsor for the event, Somers Point Volunteer Fire Company #1,
will also benefit from the proceeds of the event.

#1 is transformed into a swampy, steaming collection of Gumbo
kettles where you can taste all you want and experience a world
class music festival starring the original members of the
Radiators, one of the greatest rock ‘n roll bands in the history
of New Orleans, together with John “Papa Gros Funk” in their new
allstar band, “Raw Oyster Cult”. The 9 hour music festival
also includes the Jersey Shore’s own rock guitar hero, Billy
Walton, from Southside Johnny’s Asbury Jukes; Pittsburgs Queen
of the Blues, Jill West and Blues Attack, with special guest,
Steve Krupa performing his tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn and one
of the hottest musical attractions in South Jersey today, the
Americana classic folk rock of the Dan Burke Band premiering
their tribute to Bob Dylan and The Band at 2pm during the Gumbo
Cookoff and Tasting.
More than 20 local chefs, restaurants and celebrity cooks
be serving up all kinds of Gumbo ~ Chicken and Sausage Gumbo,
Seafood Gumbo, Jersey Crab Gumbo, Okra Gumbo, Shrimp Gumbo,
Vegetarian Gumbo, Pork and Beef Gumbo too! And you
can taste it all for the price of admission.
There will be a wide assortment of other foods
for purchase including famous Formica Brothers Tomato Pies,
Canoli, Biscotti, Jr’s Doughnuts and Dogs, fresh grilled Jersey
seafood, real Southern Style Smoked Barbeque from The Grizzly
Guy and frozen treats from Mr. Ice Cream!
